Howlin’ duo darlings Wooden Indian Burial Ground are back with a traditional song you’ve heard before, but never like this.

The pair played a desolate version of  "You Are My Sunshine" back on June 6th, 2008.

The song is based on a composition by former Louisiana Governer Jimmie Davis, who, although not the originall writer, lived to be 101.  Dude even played four songs at his 100th birthday party.  That’s hardcore.  He was a gospel man, but never considered a "hard-core racist".  Whatever-the-fuck that means.  Good for you, Jimmie.

Anyway, Wooden Indiana Burial Ground are sure to have you hearing and humming this haunting tune for days.  Unless you’re a cold-hearted bastard with a black, black soul.  And you’re not.  I know you.

"You Are My Sunshine" – by Wooden Indian Burial Ground

It’s damn good, and it was mixed by help of a Mr. Nicholas Taplin who runs a great website called Post-ConsumerPost-Consumer has some magnificent gems, like a down-right amazing seven song set from The Prids and a cool, early career eleven song set from The Shins.  Pretty sweet.

(Not to get too off topic, but earlier this summer members of The Prids were in a terrible accident on the way to a gig in L.A., so if you’re the kind of generous person that has some extra cash, please consider donating to their medical bills.  Artists aren’t the richest people sometimes.)

We’d like to thank Taplin for the mix, and Jott for the photos.  Hope you dig it.

I also like this song, and WIBG, and it’s not just because I ‘work’ here.

We need to have them back soon.
