Live Sessions

Banana Stand is best known for our Live from the Banana Stand series.

Every so often, we host Portland's best bands to record before a live audience at our secret venue. Our high-fidelity, multitrack captures of those performances are then mixed and mastered by talented producers. The resulting live albums are distributed as pay-what-you-want downloads and, often, $5 CDs. Live shows and recordings are offered for free and profits from live recordings are split 40% Band, 40% 'Stand and 20% Mixer.

The goals of the Live from the Banana Stand series are to:

  • preserve and make available documentations of Portland's live sound,

  • increase appreciation for this city's live music and those performing it,

  • generate a new stream of revenue for artists, and

  • create a sustainable, efficient new model for music production and distribution.

To reach these goals, Banana Stand provides:

  1. Excellent live recordings. They may be the best you can create in Portland. We think they are.

  2. A sneaky-awesome place to perform or see a show. People seem to really like shows here. We think you will too.

  3. Tons of accessory media. High quality photos and video will be made available for your use.

  4. Ongoing promotion. We love to update our fans about cool happenings with cool bands. We'll always be happy to hype your stuff.
